Formal Education
There is no formal process risk management discipline, analogous to chemical engineering or business studies, nor is there is no single educational, work or professional background that is shared by risk management professionals, largely because they often start working in this area toward the latter half of their careers, having had many years of diverse experience in operations, design and engineering in a wide range of industries. (An increasing number of universities and colleges are including process safety management into their curricula.)
