The journal Science has published an authoritative article to do with the relationship between global surface temperatures and the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere. The title of the article is A 485-million-year history of Earth’s surface temperature. The authors show that there is a very good correlation between temperature and CO2 concentration, as shown in the chart at the head of this post. (Note: the chart uses the logarithm of the concentration of CO2. Therefore, increases in CO2 concentration when concentrations are already high have a lesser effect than when they are low.)
I recognize that those who deny the relationship between atmospheric temperature and CO2 concentration are not likely to be swayed by this chart. But still . . .
